Disability Benefits Reform - London needs a rethink.

Repsonding to the Department of Work and Pension's controversial Green Paper "Pathways to Work: Reforming Benefits and Support to Get Britain Working", London Citizens Advice have flagged that "There will be increased risk of unfair assessments if these proposals go ahead....the tighter eligibility criteria for Personal Independence Payments (PIP) will cause income losses for disabled Londoners."

Proposed Disability Benefits Changes: Our first reaction

The Chancellor’s Spring Statement, delivered on 26 March 2025, confirmed and updated previously announced plans to reform disability and sickness benefits. A "Green Paper" to consult on proposals has also been published. These changes mark a significant shift in support provided through Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Universal Credit (UC) – to reduce welfare spending by £5 billion a year by 2030.
