Cost of Living project - Launch of year 2

We were delighted to be joined by the Deputy Mayor at Citizens Advice Brent for the launch a further year of partnership work, as GLA announce extension of funding.

Building on the success of the first year of work and our strategic partnership with GLA, this important project has been extended for a further year with London Citizens Advice receiving and additional funding allocation of £1.3 to streghten advice capacity and community outreach in London involving 19 local Citizens Advice partners. We will continue to work with the London Legal Support Trust (who have also received an additional allocation of £1.2m), strenghthening referrals and pathways and partnership working with London Law Centres and other Centres of Excellence agencies. GLA have also announced extension of the previous Advice in Community Settings Programme in which several local Citizens Advice are also partners.

To end of July, under the cost of living partnership London Citizens Advice supported over 13,000 clients since the launch of the project last year, and when combined with partnership work with Centres of Excellence agencies over 20,000 clients have been helped. Over £4million in income gains for Londoners facing financial hardship had been secured. In addition 7,220 Londoners also attended engagement events and activities related to the project, and we provided external community Advice First Aid training to over 170 community partners and 290 individuals, running around 30 training sessions. Our ambition in year two is to extend to our Advice First Aid Programme to all London Boroughs.

London’s Deputy Mayor for Communities and Social Justice Dr Debbie Weekes-Bernard visited Citizens Advice Brent to mark the launch of year 2.
