Pro Bono week 2025
London Citizens Advice welcomes this year’s Pro Bono Week and the opportunity to engage with Pro Bono in action.
We share the same goals and ethos as the pro bono movement. As a service we involve volunteers in delivery of advice work, and our advice delivery stands as a key pillar the legal support eco-system in extending access to justice for those with social welfare legal problems such as housing and debtMany of our local offices host clinics and partner up with law schools, legal charities and firms to deliver pro bono projects. Some examples include:
- Citizens Advice Haringey partners with Pro Bono Community to deliver the Advice Connect project to clients in Haringey with free legal advice on tenancy issues.
- Citizens Advice Brent runs the John Fisher clinic founded with Clyde and Co.
- RCJ Advice have a successfully utilised pro bono lawyers in civil and family rotas based at the Royal Courts of Justice.
- Citizens Advice Kensington and Chelsea have supported law students from UCL Access to justice clinic programme.
- Citizens Advice Wandsworth work with the University of Roehampton in delivering their clinic and training.
- Citizens Advice East End have worked in collaboration with Herbert Smith Freehills to deliver the Whitechapel Legal Advice Clinic.
- Citizens Advice Barking and Dagenham have worked with the Council’s in house legal team and volunteer lawyers to deliver the DVFLAGEast Clinic.
Many local solicitors have longstanding relationships with local Citizens Advice offices, acting as honorary legal advisers, contributing above and beyond in their commitment to access to justice.
